X2 on mend-it, x2 on idk about the elaztech plastics. It absolutely will extend the life of your soft plastics. Boot tails in the salt (kelp especially) get destroyed and mend-it will make them last much longer

Mend-it works on PVC based plastics (traditional soft plastics), would not expect it to work on Zman since PVC and Zman melt together in a big mess when in contact. Be sure to the bottle upside down when done so it doesn't dry out as fast.

Superglue works on PVC too, not as flexible as Mend-it ...

Cals grease 100%. Cals grease on the worm gear salt and fresh. Any quality synthetic low viscosity bearing oil.

Oil quality definitely makes a difference on the spool bearings. You can tell if you use too thick of viscosity once you cast.

I don't like to use grease on my worm gears. I don't want sand sticking to it, but I guess if you don't surf fish that's not an issue.

The main reason is abrasion resistance, under tension, PE based lines tend to shear easily. They also have a strong tendency to float which can hider some presentations especially finesse ones like weightless wacky.
