5/19-You know where I went....
Yes, after a fun fishing outing on Tuesday with my buddy Joe, I just had to go back to Murray and check it out.
A pretty good start as I caught a bass on my third cast with a fluke. Pretty quickly after that I landed another bass on a fluke. Just a little less than 15 minutes later I was fan ...

San V Saturday 5-20-23
Hit up San V on Saturday. After being Skunked at Sutherland for the month of March and the beginning of April, I was happy to finally have a decent day at San Vicente. I would have gone on Monday to avoid the skiers, tubers, etc. But, I have a dentist appointment this Monday, so I decided to brave ...

Anyone Ultralight fishing Bass in Barrett?
Pretty much title says it all, just got myself a new ultralight 7ft rod and was curious if anyone is having luck with Bass fishing on the Ultralight? Was thinking doing some Rapala Countdown 1/16 or some smaller/micro flukes

Re: Anyone Ultralight fishing Bass in Barrett?
I’ve brought ul rod in the past to fish for the bruiser gills with crappie jigs to change it up for fun. Caught many bycatch bass on crappie jigs. Try a double fluke rig with the tiny lake forks or similar. You’ll probably crush

Re: Anyone Ultralight fishing Bass in Barrett?
While I have fished small Swimbaits on 6 pound during the heat of the Summer, right now is Big Bass time. I’m throwing 30 Braid and 15 Fluorocarbon leader on a 2500 size Spinning Reel and a 7 foot 10-20 fast taper rod. Really lays it to them. The thing is the next fish you get there could be 8-10 ...

El Cap Friday
Decent size Friday crowd on yet another cooler, breezier Late May day. WTH is the warmer weather? Anyway for the 3rd straight Cap trip, I caught a fish on my first cast. I can’t say that’s ever happened before. And then after thinking it will be WFO, it turns out to be anything but and just a slow ...

It's official
Sutherland is DEAD! Never seen anything like it! I thought a bunch of rain would rejuvenate the lake but exactly the opposite seems to be true. Every fisherman I talked to (both of them) seemed to have a different explanation but all agreed; the fishing stinks! To top it off the forestry was weed ...

Re: Anyone Ultralight fishing Bass in Barrett?
12lb is pretty standard. I’ve never experienced line shy fish there. I fish 30lb mono on my swim bait rod, 20lb on my umbrella stuff, 15lb for heavy cover, 10-12 for 90% of everything else
Like stated above, I’ve brought a 2lb setup for the bruiser gills and crappie after I’ve hit the lake 5 times ...

Re: Anyone Ultralight fishing Bass in Barrett?
The 1/16 and 32nd hair jigs get bit really well on the tow. Also as a slip bobber rig.

Re: It's official
Very frustrating and confusing! The lake looks so good and is fishing so bad!! After fishing it for the last 3 months, it actually seems to be getting worse..if that's possible! I'm not sure the 1'-2' water visibility is helping! In 6 hours, I covered alot of shoreline, flipped a bunch of bushes ...

Hodges reopener
Didn' t even know it was going to really open but I made the trip with my float tube but didn't get on the water until maybe 10 am. It was sad to see this lake in the shape that it is in. I have fished here for at least 30 years and at one time it was the go to lake for double digit bass. The lake ...

Re: Hodges reopner
I started at about 6:30am and left at 8:30am and ended up with 6 from the bank. 4 were the smaller 1-2lb like you caught then I got a spawned out lethargic 7-8lber and then a 5lber that was healthy but I had to bail for work.

Re: Hodges reopner
Sweet! I fished for only 1:30 from the shore at Del dios from about 12-1:30, only got one that could have been 6lbs or so but was disgustingly skinny. What did you get yours on?
I caught both bigger fish on a 7" roboworm texas rig and all the small fish on the senko in the sticks.
That bigger ...

Hodges 6/4
Made the trek up to Hodges today. Currently exploring the shoreline pretty fast to find spots for next week. Not a bad start
