Re: BASS KID BAGS DOUBLE-DIGIT BARRETT LARGEMOUTH
You know how to make a bass bigger? You lose it. Adds weight instantly!
Every bass I lose weighs at least 5lbs 😂
You are sure doing better than I am this year...ha ha. Very nice!
The pic of the 4.75lb bass I caught at Miramar recently looks much bigger than the 2lb'ers
but it still weighed ...

Re: BASS KID BAGS DOUBLE-DIGIT BARRETT LARGEMOUTH
Beautiful fish,
That looks like a Norman Rockwell picture.
You have a memory for life, who cares what it weighted, it’s a gift.
Enjoy the moment young man. Great job.

Re: Spring time fishing San Diego
Our San Diego lakes are managed (or mismanaged) for water storage. Our lakes are manmade water tanks. In these tanks live the bass we love to fish for and these fish are not part of the equation when decisions are made on the water levels.

Re: El Cap (2/22) Dams
What about all the Dams back East? Many are older than our Dams. They are all full every year from the massive rains they receive. No lowering of the water. I think it’s about creating a shortage so the Water Districts can charge more for the water. “Let’s be extra careful, we are doing it for your ...

Re: El Cap (2/22)
Hard to answer this question.
The state of CA is calling the shots.
Perhaps other states that are not doing this are teetering on disaster...
Or
The state of CA is over protective due to earthquake risk or there is some conspiracy to charge higher rates to customers.
Water is a tough investment ...

Re: El Cap (2/22)
Reading these 🧢 reports and being a boater is sheer torture. And its my favorite lake after Barrett. Damn the city (pun intended) for not managing our water resources and dam maintenance/replacement funds better. And you can throw the Hodges story into this too. Sorry bfullerton17 for going ...

Re: Lake Elsinore Wiper Bass
Glad you got what you needed. Just a warning about Elsinore, make one mistake of any kind on the water and the Lake Sheriff will write you a ticket. No education, no mercy. There is a certain flow of traffic, speed limits, area with No Wake. Observe these rules. Look them up, study them and follow ...

Re: What knot is the strongest for minijig
1st, make sure it is the knot failing. A failed knot will (usually) have a curly tail at the end due to the knot slipping. If the line doesn't have a curly tail and is roughened at the end, then abrasion did it in. A clean break with no abrasion could indicate bad line.
Any of the top 20 knots at ...

Re: If Could Only Bring Three Baits…
Bluegill pattern Spinnerbait 3/8oz
albino zoom swimming fluke jr on 1/8oz darter head
1/4 football head finnese jig, big-bites 3" craw trailer.
(for numbers, D/S robo worm, senko and 3.8 kitech)
But honestly the best 3 baits at Barret(or anywhere) are the 3 you are best at fishing.

Re: Barrett Rangers
Now, perhaps people may agree to disagree, but personally, sending TWO wardens to check on people fishing at Barrett is not very productive. I don't think individuals who paid over $100 to fish Barrett are the type to be breaking rules. It's like rolling up to an Amish community checking for ...

Re: Lithium trolling motor battery recomendation
Hello, for anyone using a 12v lithium battery for their trolling motors, what Ah battery are you using all day?
Is a 12v 50Ah big enough for a full day on barrett?
12v100Ah overkill?
I have used the Dakota Lithium 12V 54Ah battery for the last (at least) 3 years at Barrett Lake. I have never ...

Re: Lithium trolling motor battery recomendation
Weight wise my battery weights 17 pounds which is not heavy the mini battery i believe is 11 pounds unless you dont work out or in the worst shape of your life the extra 8 pounds isnt too much to carry and the extra 50$ is worth getting double the power IMO. As for trolling motor i have always use ...

Do you count your fish?
Maybe an odd question, but do you count your fish? If so, why?
I primarily fish with my 9-year-old son Theo, and like a lot of you, we’ve made a habit of counting how many fish we catch. It started simply enough — it’s not hard to remember 4 fish days —but as we’ve improved, I’m happy to say that ...

Re: Do you count your fish?
Yup all the time, it’s part of the fun and it’s not about beating the others on my boat but rather doing for our own personal bests. Nothing like hearing our separate clickers going off.

Re: Do you count your fish?
I do count my fish for the most part. At one time I was taking a picture of every fish. On the opener of San V after Damn rebuild I posted on the site 95 bass. Of course some said no picks BS. I had pics of them and posted pics of group pictures. I was weighing also as a lot were 4 to 7lbs. But at ...

Re: Do you count your fish?
Thanks for the feedback guys! I’m going to approach as mini-competition count days, and other days when I want to explore new areas and new techniques not worrying about fish counts. I think there is definitely fun to be had with both approaches.
Guessing you already are, but be prepared for ...

Re: What type of float tubes are allowed?
Depends on who "they" is. Never heard of the lake authorities caring. Some fishermen frown on anyone, especially the ones doing better than they are.

Re: Outboards on aluminum boats?
You're obviously not supposed to bring your own outboard powered aluminum craft and add an extra boat to the lake. People have bent the meaning of "float tube/kayak" real far at this point. What a legitimate kayak can do has also changed a ton since the old days though. You can easily sink 20k into ...
