Re: Shelter Island dock damage...

No, damage was not from boats. Good ole mother nature.

Sand has built up in that corner of the basin, actually quite a bit. It has left a very uneven bottom right there. At really low tides, the docks come down on that uneven sand and get al twisted up and are starting to buckle and crumble at the ...

Lake is full. Water is about 59-62 and very clear. Fish are on the bank to about 12' water. They are in ...

Re: Help save Barrett Lake

Tons of email will help. When they were getting ready to close the lakes during Covid, we organized CARFA and started an email campaign to keep the lakes open. So many fisherman sent emails to the mayor and city council , they told me to tell the group to stop the emails as they were getting flooded ...

Green pumpkin chaterbaits with a small pumpkin fluke, Mega bass jerkbaits and 1/16 oz Hookup baits in natural shad, watermelon/red flake Paca craw, texas rigged ...

Re: SHARE returns to the Big B

You are welcome.

They bring me up to get the motors all running before everyone shows up a week before the event. We had 6 problem motors that did not want to start but got them all up and running. Lori was pretty surprised to hear that.

All in all, a great weekend but the congratulations all go ...

Re: Help save Barrett Lake

Thanks!!

AS explained to me: The SHARE program is a voluntary program that landowners participate in. They donate their highly coveted land to special entry hunting and fishing privileges to the public on a limited basis. They can revoke their participation on a moments notice as it is a privilege ...

Re: SHARE returns to the Big B

He was just finishing up his degree at ASU for the same thing and interning with Az Game and Fish. He graduated and He just got hired on by a huge national transmission line construction co as a ...

Re: New motors 2024?

The "new" motors. They were not new out of the box. They said they come from Miramar, lightly used, and I discovered they were not stored properly. They were all fixed and are all good to go now.

Re: Were tickets random this year?

No dates on my desktop were shown but my friend said he saw dates on his ap on the phone. He got in, I did not. Spent too much time looking for dates and then it was sold out. Not very easy at all this year.

Re: Catch & Release and Harvesting During the Spawn

I would like to jump in on this and offer a little info.

I talked to the guys that do the population studies at the lakes. They shock at night when the bass have moved into the shallower water from spending their day in the deep water. The bass float, they scoop, measure, weigh and then release the ...

Re: Were tickets random this year?

I sent an email to ticket master to return to the older version. They do not know something is wrong until you let them know. Send them an email. They get enough emails and they will look into it.

How to make it a whole lot easier to buy Barrett Tix next month! Calendar Fix

To make sure you see the dates next time instead of a listing that most of us saw when making a reservation for Barrett,
In the upper right hand corner, click on the calendar icon and it will switch the screen to calendar mode. It will be a lot less frustrating next month.

See the screenshot below ...

San Diego Anglers Bay Bass Tournament Results-April 2024

The format was changed this year from a weighing tournament to a measuring tournament. The Kayak Tournaments have been doing this successfully for years and we thought we would try it. The fish are measured on an approved measuring board, photos are snapped and then uploaded to a fishing ap that ...

Re: A Call to Arms Barrett Junkies

Just found this post.

Public input does make a difference. A huge difference. When covid hit and they wanted to close all the lakes, we formed a group out in east county and met a couple times a month to keep the lakes open. The group spearheaded an email campaign sending polite letters to the city ...

Fish report May 5, 2025

Our Foundation, San Diego Anglers Foundation, brought Wounded Warriors to Barrett today and it was wide open. We fished from 7 am to 2:30. Every boat caught between 75 to 144 fish. Lots of these guys had never caught a bass before and they left the lake feeling like experts. It was a heavy overcast ...

Re: Fish report May 5, 2025

They all said it was the best fishing day of their lives.

The 2 gals that were there had to quit early because their arms and wrists were too sore from setting the hooks on the senkos. They got dropped off at the boat dock and waited in their cars for the armada to return at 3pm.(Bass Pro Shops ...

Report 9/24

Started off doing the normal stuff along the bank. A few fish but nothing to get excited about. We switched tactics to off the bank, deeper water and started throwing HookUp Baits off the bank in 15 to 20 ft of water. Game on. We ended up with 80 fish throwing 1/8 oz colors of Ice and Green Pumpkin ...
