Tide ride Shelter Island to America's Cup Harbor.

Float tubes are a convenient and affordable way to get on the water, and finally get to those fish that you can't reach from shore. Discuss float tubes, outfitting float tubes for fishing, and float tube fishing.

Tide ride Shelter Island to America's Cup Harbor.

(apologies if this is a duplicate....went haywire in editing)

Tried this one today.

Got nine spotties. Couple of kayakers were doing better, they seemed to be tossing slightly larger swimbaits. I was using 3 inch plastics. Also two guys were chucking Alabama Rigs and gettin' some.

Anyway, my bass were 10 to 13 inches.

also got three barracuda 16 to 20 inches. and a lizardfish. Then this:

21 inches...ignore the weird cell phone perspective that made the tail look ginormous.

My best corvina ever. And caught on one of my homemade....I mean "artisinal"....ScorcherZ tubes.

Be advised that the dock inside ACH is taaall. The tide was low when I got there and was able to stand on the hardpack silty bottom and get out. Higher tide might mean a scramble up the riprap...Or 'borrowing' a tied-up skiff to transit from your tube to the dock.
I'll pretend my tube's not sinking

I usually lock a folding cart at the takeout spot before driving to the launch. But this area doesnt have a bike rack near the dock...and has a tidy touristy vibe...as well as a warning sign about unauthorized use of the dock.
So I strapped the tube on my back and walked. Rods in one hand and a bucket (fins, anchor, pfd) in the other. 15 minute schlep.
