ivermectin... WE TOLD YOU SO!
A preprint paper showing ivermectin’s effectiveness against COVID-19 in Peru convinced a group of doctors that widespread ivermectin distribution could end the pandemic in October 2020
Because the paper wasn’t yet peer-reviewed, it was brushed off; ivermectin for COVID-19 was vilified, as were those who dared to prescribe it
Now, the study has been peer-reviewed and published in Cureus, vindicating ivermectin as a treatment for COVID-19
Not only did ivermectin work against COVID-19, it was remarkably effective, resulting in a 74% reduction in excess deaths in the 10 Peru states where it was used most intensively
There was a 14-fold reduction in nationwide excess deaths when ivermectin was readily available and then a 13-fold increase in excess deaths in the two months after ivermectin use was restricted

remember when
I remember who here repeated this nonsense
In a landmark ruling on September 1, a federal court stated that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) abused its authority under federal law when it advised Americans to “stop” using the drug Ivermectin as a treatment for COVID-19.

Re: ivermectin... WE TOLD YOU SO!
I think doctors were discouraged from filling Ivermectin prescriptions, but if you knew where to look, you could still find some doctors who fill the prescription and send the patient to an independent compounding pharmacy where the patient could get the prescription filled.otaymichael wrote: ↑Sun Sep 03, 2023 1:10 am AND they made it illegal for pharmacies to fulfill prescriptions, as many drs knew it was working.
You'll notice that "health experts" had no strategy for treating symptoms of the disease. Their only strategy for a patient to follow was to isolate, wait until the symptoms got so bad that hospitalization was required, then remdesivir was administered, which killed a lot of people, but hospitals were paid big bonuses for intubating patients and then injecting them with remdesiver. Then when the patient died, the hospitals got another bonus for adding C19 as the cause of death. Then the strategy was to get everybody vaxxed with the promise that they wouldn't contract or transit t disease....but that didn't pan out. Not only did they get and give the disease, but they also died of it, and sometimes from the side effects of the injection. Just sayin.....

Everything in a perfect nutshell^^^^ except you missed that many of those that died never got to with their loved ones by their side and no one was able to comfort and console them with their last good byes.
But let’s wait for some links so I can change my mind. Hahaha

Who needs peer reviewed double blind tests with statistically significant numbers of participants when there is the Lounge?

You put a lot of trust in people you personally don’t know and assume they all have your best interest in mind. It’s pretty hilarious and sad at the same time. Hook, line and sinker…

Got it, you should trust only the people you personally know.

Why trust peer reviewed double blind studies duplicated by other researchers when there are friends and family instead?

Um, if you’re comparing trust between someone you personally know vs someone you don’t know? If those were the options, my money is on someone I personally know. You’ve definitely drank the koolaid
By the way. I’d rather hear from you and your opinions based on personal experiences vs links. You’re wasting your time with links. You have no idea who is behind any of those, what motives etc. use some critical thinking skills. Think! Come on, you have a brain, use it. Observe, experiment, fail, win etc. mankind got by just fine without internet links. Actually, as intelligent as modern man is, when it comes down to basic skills of survival, building and problem solving, modern man is pretty dumb.

Nothing taught in math, science and engineering is based on people we know 1st hand or experiments we have witnessed 1st hand. You would not have a computer or cell phone if everyone followed your advice.

NOTHING is a bold claim. Where’s your link?
I’d hate to see you on sinking “boat” in a storm with no WiFi or cellular data with only minutes to spare 50 miles off the beach. Been there.
You must have never heard of a trade school either. Instructors teach based of a curriculum but with first hand experience, knowledge and techniques. Sorry, no links

Wasn't taking about trade school. The famous scientists (Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein, Neil Bohrs, etc.) all published their work, it was peer reviewed, people tried to disprove it and it became accepted. Science would not progress if everything had to be 1st hand experience. It is very unusual for anyone to actually meet the person responsible for a scientific discovery that it taught in schools.camobass wrote: ↑Mon Sep 04, 2023 9:33 pm NOTHING is a bold claim. I take it that your preferred approach for medical decisions is to get anecdotal stories from people you know and make a gut decision from that. None of this fancy science-y stuff with statistics, double blind studies and verification by other researches.

Re: ivermectin... WE TOLD YOU SO!
The problem is that money and power talks. We never have access or easy access to all of the data because data that isn't popular or doesn't serve the business or political purposes of certain entities gets suppressed, the doctors and or institutes are dismissed and defamed, de-platformed. A consensus of peers is just that. They are either backed by the the entities with money and power or not. Only the consensus of peers that agree are going to be "correct" in the general media run by the powers that be.Gotfish? wrote: ↑Sat Sep 09, 2023 9:58 pmWasn't taking about trade school. AMA position on Ivermectin: https://www.ama-assn.org/press-center/p ... t-covid-19
But why take Ivermectin advice from doctors when you can get free advice from conspiracy websites and cable news political commentators, free of the bias that comes with medical knowledge and factchecking?
Plus, they need your money to pay off some defamation costs.

Re: ivermectin... WE TOLD YOU SO!
A 5-day course of ivermectin was found to be safe and effective in treating adult patients with mild COVID-19.
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33278625/
Conclusions: Moderate-certainty evidence finds that large reductions in COVID-19 deaths are possible using ivermectin. Using ivermectin early in the clinical course may reduce numbers progressing to severe disease. The apparent safety and low cost suggest that ivermectin is likely to have a significant impact on the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic globally.

1st article link is to a study in Bangladesh where the parasitic infection level would be expected to be considerably higher than the US. Also, verbatim from the that article: "Larger trials will be needed to confirm these preliminary findings".HookEmDanO wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2023 7:29 am A 5-day course of ivermectin was found to be safe and effective in treating adult patients with mild COVID-19.

2nd line is to a meta analysis of many studies, no effort to separate studies done in high parasite load countries versus low, Some studies showed benefit, some did not. Comment on the meta analysis (from the article link) is at https://journals.lww.com/americantherap ... ty.11.aspx . There were a number of problems with the analysis as the comment shows.
Hypothesis of the Economist article still stands: Ivermectin for COVID is probably a great idea in countries with high parasite load, otherwise not.
