Murray Panfish Mix

Wen't to Murray this morning to try from some topwater panfish action.
Started fishing at 0615. Half a dozen bluegill and redear on topwater and missed/farmed another half dozen. First time I have caught redear on topwater.
No cloud cover. Bite died as sun hit water. No fish after 0700 except a a couple of foot long bass that I farmed after casting into some shady areas along reeds. Quit fishing at 0800.
Today's rod was a custom 4wt 7'6" bamboo rod, made by a local custom builder who has since relocated to Idaho, fished with a a 5wt line to better roll cast poppers with not a lot of line out. Rod grip is made from a single piece of shaped cedar wood. Extremely durable but hard on the hands for long periods of fishing and a bit more slick than cork.
