My little local lake out here in Ramona has been very abusive this year! After 4 months of 1 to 3 fish days, I finally started putting together some patterns a couple weeks ago and today was my revenge day! The weather was perfect, overcast in the morning and a high of 82 by 1:00! Normally in August you can expect temps closer to 100-105! I started the day throwing flukes, something that just killed them the last couple years in August...but not this year! I probed the shoreline brush with senkos for awhile without results..so it didn't take me long to pull out the dropshot rod. I soon found my fish in 12'-15' of water! I ended up with 11 fish, broke off a couple in the brush, and just missed some strong bites. The fish all seem strong and healthy, so I'm not sure what they've been eating the last 4 months since they had no interest in most things I had offered them. Once again, it was fun talking with Mr.Vinnybass and I could see Fisheromen off in the distance, but he obviously had his own pattern going today!

That's great to hear! That is the lake of D&K that I was used to. Nice work!

Nice job out there McFish as you pulled in quite a few very healthy bass. It was great to see that a number of fish can be caught after a very tough and unusual few months up there and I got to witness most of it. The next time... I am going to fish to the left of you early(where the fish were biting) and you can follow me back to the right...ha ha. Very fun chatting with you and boy that white duck really liked you...even though I was the guy feeding him..quack! quack!
I think Fisheromen found a secret spot as we never saw him again.

Rumor has it I am still at the back of the lake. Not true, but it took an hour to get back from the Santa Ysabel arm and I went less than half way back. Twice the lake we had last year!
I found a TW bite early! Buzz bait and Popper. Missed a couple, farmed a couple and caught 4 to 2.8 lbs. Had one huge, heart-stopping explosion but she missed the hook! Never found a worm bite.
Yes the Lake of Donald and Kieffer is finally awaking from its slumber, only to close in a few weeks.

Crazy..you found a TW bite that I couldn't, and I found a worm bite that you couldn't..lol! The City will be right on schedule, closing the lake again right when the bite turns on! Trying to remember the last time City Lakes did something to benefit the fisherman?? Still thinking..........

Has the water level come down at all? Or is the city holding the levels steady?

I'd say the water is down maybe 10' from the high 2 months ago! I would think they still want it lower in anticipation of the El Nino winter prediction..
Even though that's not a real good prediction of a wet winter! Last winter was a La Nina prediction for a dry winter....we had record rains and snow instead!
