6/27- El Cap

Was thinking of hitting the SD River with my kayak this morning but changed my mind and instead headed out to it El Cap. I must say thank you to Jeromy(#CorsoEnthusiast) for providing added inspiration to help make my decision. The weather was crisp this morning and lake was very glassy but knew it was going to heat up.
Started tossing jerk baits and spinner baits down the banks. Every cast I anticipated something slamming my lure. Then tried a Chatter bait for a bit and still nothing. I decided to fish a tiny bit deeper and switched over to an under spin and landed one pretty quickly. A few other clones followed in the action which was fun. As the sun started heating up things, I was basically was practicing casting as I threw a number of reaction baits and finally decided to try something different. I tossed an T-rigged Upton Otay Special for a bit and then put on a Rage Craw. And on my first cast, got bit and I pulled in a small bass. Not much later I had bass come unbuttoned right next to my kayak and a few casts later in the same area I had a bass pop my line on the rocks. I may have said something that I cannot post, but let's just say I was not happy. My next bite on the Rage craw was a little healthier bass which made me briefly forget(of course I am thinking about them now) about the 2 bass in a row I did not land. So between the under spin and Rage craw and Googan craw, I ended up landing 8 bass this morning. All the bass were pretty small and my biggest bass seemed big only because of the size of the others I landed. Still it was fun to get out and get a morning of fishing in at El Cap.
Tight lines
Healthy, but really not that big Lots of these dinks
On another subject:
Road above El Cap is not a race track... (or maybe he heard a rumor that @McFish was going to
be at El Cap giving away some of his favorite colored Roboworms?)
