Coronado Ferry Landing need advice....

Hi all,
Looks like I will be shepherding a group of kids and dads to do some pier fishing. They have selected July 29th at the Coronado Ferry Landing.
It is what it is. So I am looking forward to a day of untangling lines, hopefully unhooking a few round rays, and retying after someone gets hung up in the weeds.
Any recommendations on what time to go, pretty sure the groupthink on this will dictate between 9 am and 5 pm? And parking tips as well...are the main lots free? do they have time limits on parking? If I tell this bunch to be there at 8 a.m., will that enhance their ability to get a parking spot?
If any of them are interested in another trip, I'll take 'em down to mission bay to pump shrimp and catch fish --guaranteed!--but this round I don't have any input on the site and date.
Thanks in advance..
CK
