Hi all,
It's been about 3 weeks since I was out at Cap due to the horribly hot weather and a golden trout trip to the Sierra last weekend, but I was finally able to get back out there this past Saturday. I was a bit wary of going too far from the launch on my tube with the wind advisory in effect, but I still had a fun day on the water in the section of the lake between the island and the launch. I started my day cruising the shoreline in the coves and around points, focusing mostly on the weed mats with a frog and out in front of them with a popper and fly. The frog bite started ramping up around this time last year as the nights cooled, and it seems to be doing the same again this year. I stuck a stout clone on the first cast of the day with the frog on a weed mat on the edge of the shore vegetation, and managed a few more throughout the day using this tactic. The popper and fly produced well when casting on the edge of weed mats and on points in the morning when not throwing the frog. When the morning bite slowed and the wind died down, schools began busting in open water, which usually makes for a fun bite. I threw the Karashi, popper, fly, and fluke at busters for most of the afternoon, and all of these baits produced. Fun day on the water!
Tight lines

There you go! Awesome! I can't wait to get my knees fixed so that I can fish Cap again. Thanks for the post.
