October’s tournament season has given anglers plenty to follow, while our local tuna fishing continues to be excellent at Iman, Gordo Banks and San Luis Bank.
Bisbee’s Los Cabos Offshore concluded with its awards celebration on October 17, following three fishing days on October 14–16. Official tournament schedule.
The official recap names Tiki Perro Pescador as the Top Tournament Team with a 350-pound blue marlin. Caliente weighed the event’s heaviest yellowfin tuna at 259 pounds, while Prime Time’s 46.5-pound dorado took first place overall in that division. Official Bisbee’s recap.
We also have a highlight from our own crew: Captain Papayito participated in the tournament and had a memorable tuna catch. Anglers interested in fishing with him can request him through Daliken Sportfishing, subject to availability.
For our current local trips, tuna remain the main focus. Smaller fish are being targeted with sardine chumming, while larger tuna are being pursued by trolling small skipjack.
Sailfish and cubera snapper are also present. Mahi-mahi and striped, black and blue marlin have been slower locally, despite the tournament’s standout catches.
Next comes Bisbee’s Black & Blue, with fishing scheduled for October 21–23. There is still plenty of October fishing ahead. Official Black & Blue schedule.
