1 ½ hours east of El Centro, Ca this lake offers panfish, catfish, and bass fishing. Camping is free with a 10-day camping limit, and camp sites are first come first served. No water, no camping amenities except for two vault toilets. Camping areas can get crowded in winter but lake is rarely crowded so bring your boat, canoe, or kayak. Boat ramp and dock are at picnic area. The day time temperatures in summer are dangerous at Mittry Lake so either fish early in the morning or wait until winter. Mittry Lake is comparable in size to reservoirs in San Diego. A reservoir called “Senator’s Wash Reservoir,” is located about 30 minutes north and is definitely worth a look but this reservoir is subject to use fees. Mittry Lake and Senator’s Wash are managed by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management.

So essentially, 0.5 fish per visit.

So if I go with a buddy, one of us gets to catch the front half of a bass, and the other gets the tail?
