The City is closing Miramar for their Toilet to Tap experiment! It says it will be closed for up to a year...any bets on how long it will actually be closed? You will still be able to fish from shore but 90% of the shoreline is covered with tulles! I'm so happy I'm on well water!!!

In the past few trips, I've seen surveyors at San vee. Some were working near the dam.
Others on the hillsides. I think the same thing is happening there.

Isn’t the toilet to tap supposed to sterilize the water hence no fish will live? Bummer

San V is working on a project to make hydroelectric power by pumping water up to a yet to be built lake..and then send the water back to San V to make electricity..still in the planning stages I believe. I would think it is like what they do at Hodges and Olivenhain reservoirs.

I've heard that possibility...but I'm not sure how the water would not absorb some nutrients from the bottom. I guess they could just drain the lake and cement the bottom over!

Not sure where youre getting your info inregards to no fish due to implementing the recycled water into the lakes....
Its not like it's 100% recycled waste water entering the lake...
Santee lakes has already implemented the recycled water program , & last time I checked there's fish in there...

Queue from the old site stated that the toilet to tap will sterilize the lakes. That’s his wheelhouse.

Beyond my pay grade, but it seems to me like pumping water somewhere takes energy. And then you use the water to create energy? I would imagine they've done the math but it doesn't sound super-efficient to me.

Supposedly they pump the water uphill during hours when electricity is cheaper and then send it downhill to make hydroelectric power when rates are up. Hey, it's better than their idea to cover the lakes with floating solar panels....!

I would imagine since they pump water into San V anyways, they would just pump it to the upper reservoir first. If anything, the new energy would just be putting a dent in what it already costs to pump water to the lake in the first place. Either way, “we” are paying
