Nice man. I went out tossing flies today for the first time in months...really hit the spot. Somehow, after the layoff, my casting stroke was pretty good. Might throw bugs again Wednesday

Saw a bunch of monster carp in the shallows at San V on Monday cruising the brush! They were back in the old chimney area.

Ooh baby! Does San V allow stand-up paddle boards? Or sit-on-top kayaks? I know most SD reservoirs don't allow them, or just kayaks. I pretty much need to be standing to fish the way I do. Can't really do it from a tube.

Hodges question - if I was to start looking for carp there, being my first time, can someone tell me where would be a good location to start?
I can walk, wade, or tube - thanks!
Also, I will be flyfishing
Heading to henshaw today, but Hodges is minutes from the house, so I thought to ask

I have had success on the kayak/tube getting carp to hit mini jigs at hodges. Go out in the afternoon to the middle of the lake and just look for jumping and cruising fish, and put a bait in front of their face. IF the city opens the lake that is

no SUPs allowed, I think most kayaks are ok! The carp were still back at the old chimney area today, they are going crazy, must be spawning now!

Heading to Sutherland Saturday - I think I will work up the Santa Ysabel arm and see who is home
The carp at Moreno were still not in the shallows well enough for me to chase last weekend
So far for me, Henshaw had the best sight fishing
With Hodges closed, I want to look around before I focus one lake (Moreno, Henshaw, Sutherland)

Sutherland was slow
No catches
Saw maybe 5 fish (100 yards out jumping)
Did not see anyone catching anything

Hit Henshaw yesterday - no carp but the catfish bit the fly pretty good - plus one small bass and a medium crappie

Hmm. When you're fishing micro-jigs (1/32 oz, 2 lb test) for bluegill in a tiny creek and a small carp eats it....we hates it forever.

Okay, we don't hates it forever. But we do remember.....

Gotta hit this spot again as soon as the floodwaters recede a bit more.
