Like a few others, I went on Father's day with my son! (He doesn't fish much so it was his gift to me) Took the canoe and the wind got the best of us...also there was a rest stop beaching event where I may or may not have ended up in the lake...my gift to my son...
Anyway, he caught the first fish...
And then to be nice, he let me catch the rest...biggest one should have been a 5lber, but must have missed the lunch truck.
Picked up a few more and even got one near the dock at the end of the day.
Overall it was a good day with the boy!

Have only fished Barrett twice about a decade ago. Is there an explanation for the poor health of some of the fish this year?

Lack of shad and silversides.

Same thing happened back in the late 90s when the threadfin died off. If its as bad as back then, the fish health will get much worst. They were paper thin and you could not even lip them without hearing their jaws crunch. No fight in them ether, just dead weight. They would not hit reaching baits and most everything was caught on finesse baits.
Funny thing, they used threadfin from San V to repopulate and now San V has no threadfin.
