Barrett has some new boats

About 2/3's of the boats are new G3 boats made by Yamaha. They look to be about 1 ft longer and about 1 ft wider. They also seem to be faster than the old boats. Lots of room for all your stuff now!
Fish the SHARE program today. Good fishing until the wind kicked up at about noon. Pretty scary stuff in the Hauser arm for awhile. Died down as the afternoon progressed. Fish were all caught on all the standard stuff. Looks to be a normal year on Barrett when it opens in May!

That’s good news but the motors are still the ones used for the last few season or so?
If so, do you think it’s because the boat bottom hulls are better or the motor’s are better tuned up or ??
Figure the new 2026 is heavier (assuming) than the older Lowe’s 14’, the motor’s are performing better due to good tune up or ??

Same motors. Maybe the boats are lighter. I do not know.

Has to be design…displacement, length, faster on plane, less hull resistance, etc. Doubt they are lighter as they are quite a bit bigger overall.

Thanks guys!
Maybe less drag on the bottom as there’s no growth on the bottom?

Hey guys, does anyone know when opening day is? I can’t find the info on Ticketmaster or the city website for some reason.

Most likely Sat/Sun May 2nd and 3rd. Not sure about that first Wednesday, seems like they are closed on an early Wed each month.

May 6th (Wednesday) will be the official opening day I thinks.
My bet is May 2 - Saturday - is not the opening Saturday but rather May 9th. Hope I’m wrong.

It would be just like the city to cheat us out of days

Thanks guys. But wouldn’t that mean that Ticketmaster would be selling tickets already (since it’s a month before opening day)?

No, they’re sold on the 2nd Tuesday of the month prior to the actual available fishing month coming up.

Opening day at Barrett is always the first Wednesday of May, so opening for the 2026 season will be on Wednesday May 6th. Everything I hear says the lake will be fishing really good.
