Mission Beach 3-30

Post by kastmaster »

Fished Gulp sandworms for the first time, 2 inch variety (has he lived under a rock all this time?). Can only report pervasive tappity taps and missing tails for 90 minutes beginning at sunrise. Only bites were basically within 15 feet of me. Smooth and overcast conditions. Threw the kastmaster a few times to feel human again, still no bites. Osprey flew directly overhead with a nice corbina in its talons, as if to say, neener neener!

Recent paddleboard recon around Vacation Isle suggested I should wet a line there too. No bites, but I did get hassled for fishing North Cove beach by someone staying at one of the cabins. It's a public beach (posted as such) and I was being completely safe and aware (only 3 kids on the entire stretch, I gave them a wide berth). I think this was a territorial issue by someone who thought they paid for a private beach, but didn't. Anyone else ever have an issue there?

Nice day for the osprey, haha.

Honestly in the past year of fishing, I've had only one negative confrontation from someone in the water, and it was from a surfer telling me I was fishing "surf territory", as if he was claiming the entire ocean? I do everything possible to be careful and respectful of surfers, including reeling my line in when they're paddling in or out to give them one less thing to focus on, casting nowhere near where they're queueing for waves (couldn't cast that far if I tried!), and always cleaning up after myself (no rogue line, hooks, etc. when fixing anything).

Weird to get hassled by someone staying in a cabin but I'm guessing its for the reason you mentioned? Someone feeling entitled. The nerve! Don't they realize they're in the presence of THE KASTMASTER!?!?! 8-)
