I am planning to hit Lake Elsinore next week to try and catch some striped/white bass hybrids (wiper bass). Any suggestions for lures, techniques, and tackle will be greatly appreciated. I fish from a Yamaha Waverunner.

Thanks,

Paul

I would try asking in the Southern California Fishing Reports: Freshwater or Saltwater (Other than San Diego County) section on SDFish.
Under Riverside county as there is already a report on Lake Elsinore and might find better help in there.

Thank you for the suggestion. The long post on Lake Elsinore in the Riverside County section actually supplied me with what I was looking for.

Glad you got what you needed. Just a warning about Elsinore, make one mistake of any kind on the water and the Lake Sheriff will write you a ticket. No education, no mercy. There is a certain flow of traffic, speed limits, area with No Wake. Observe these rules. Look them up, study them and follow them. It seems the City of Elsinores’ budget revolves around the money made from these infractions. Launch Pointe opens at 7 am and the Restaurant there called the Bobber is an OK place for lunch. There is plenty of parking at the Ramp. All Lake Fees can be paid at the entrance gate.

Thanks for the info. I may drive over to Launch Pointe a few days before fishing to learn the layout and all the rules.

Thanks for posting the video. Great job out there. I always like trying new water. Been wanting to try that for years and will hit it soon. PS. Took my wife fishing once (she lasts about an hour) and right at dusk I hear "whoops" from the back of the boat. I turn around and she is no longer holding a rod. Yep, rod went over on her cast. I figured I had about 5 minutes to try to retrieve it as so late and it had braid on so knew it would be floating near the bottom. I was lucky, like you, to catch the line. I started to hand line hers in, knowing that we were already running late to get off the water, when it hit me that she was casting and the bail was open. So yes, I got to hand line 150 yards of line. Oh well, was happy to get it back and we had a good laugh. Take care

My Elsinore experience was similar except for the hookups. 6 1/2 hours of trolling Flicker Shads. Was it my squeaky seat, bad peddling technique, 8 pound Fluorocarbon leader too distracting? Beautiful Day in February.

Fished shore this morning for wipers from shore, didn't land one. Did get a few large mouths. Plus my bait and wait pole got some huge carp
