Lake levels around San Diego always seem to lower every year around this time. The males make the beds then the lake suddenly becomes lower so the beds are exposed and they have to do it again. There’s always a reason for the level to lower and it’s total BS . Just leave the level alone so the bass can have a good spawn. Watch what happens this time.

I have a small private Lake down the Street. It is the water Supply for a big Golf Course. They buy recycled water and it is full and they draw it down very low before they buy more, constantly leaving Beds high and dry. Somehow Bass, Catfish, and Crappie survive. They are huge. Not a lot of them but total Quality. So, perhaps this is what happens. Less population equals bigger Fish. So even though you may not be getting 30 fish days, total weight during the Session may be similar. Would we be happy with this? I don’t have a choice. So I just fish big.

Our San Diego lakes are managed (or mismanaged) for water storage. Our lakes are manmade water tanks. In these tanks live the bass we love to fish for and these fish are not part of the equation when decisions are made on the water levels.

I assure you the bass will be just fine. There are already too many bass in our local lakes at the moment. A failed/poor spawn would actually be beneficial should one happen, though I'm pretty sure it won't.

Wait, is that why I skunked at Hodges this morning? Surely it wasn’t because it was my first time out there, and I don’t really know much about largemouth… haha

How much did they draw down hodges because of the rain?

Not quite sure how accurate the sensor is, and if they’re still drawing it down…
