It was a beautiful day on the water at Cap this past Sunday. Sunny, about 74 degrees, and just a light to moderate breeze coming from the west in the afternoon. The bite seems to have slowed down a tick since last weekend, but I was still able to manage quite a few bites and 10 fish in the net. The fish have pushed shallow and are willing to take a well-placed neko or ned-rigged worm, but the neko got more looks. No dice on reaction, but didn’t fish it all that hard.

Reading these

reports and being a boater is sheer torture. And its my favorite lake after Barrett. Damn the city (pun intended) for not managing our water resources and dam maintenance/replacement funds better. And you can throw the Hodges story into this too. Sorry bfullerton17 for going sideways on your post. Good job

Thanks for the report. There is bait all over in 30 to 40 feet and a lot bass in them. They should move up soon, nights are staying a little warmer.

It is a shame & very difficult for many boat fisherman who cannot not access many lakes w/a boat in SD county.
However, it's important to note a few items:
The dams are old & outdated & the state has mandated to municipalities what the max holding capacity may be & therefore the reservoirs are not permitted to hold the amount of water they once could.
Increased population is SD county has also increased water demand, while at the same time the counties water storage has been limited by the state.
There is also mismanagement by & within the city people in charge.
But, they are limited on what they can do...
Replace the dams is really the only solution to regain acceptable higher water capacity & consistent reliable boating access.

What about all the Dams back East? Many are older than our Dams. They are all full every year from the massive rains they receive. No lowering of the water. I think it’s about creating a shortage so the Water Districts can charge more for the water. “Let’s be extra careful, we are doing it for your safety”. Meanwhile I can no longer afford to water my plants in the back yard.

Hard to answer this question.
The state of CA is calling the shots.
Perhaps other states that are not doing this are teetering on disaster...
Or
The state of CA is over protective due to earthquake risk or there is some conspiracy to charge higher rates to customers.

Water is a tough investment cus much is lost during transport & due to evaporation.

Just a guess here…but I bet there were funds at one point to maintain/replace all of our dams that was squandered away by those calling the shots on alternative and wasteful programs. Just a guess.
