Mission Beach 2/21

Nice perch bite this morning at Mission Beach!
I had my line in the water by 6:30am and fished the incoming tide from low to about its halfway point, and wrapped things up by 9:30ish.
It took a little longer than usual to see any action but once I did, I caught 12 perch throughout the course of the morning. All mostly medium size. I had a couple large bites that I wasn’t able to hook up, and lost one larger size fish at the shore, but I’m guessing they were still “just” perch.
The low tide was relatively calm and clean. Occasional small clumps of kelp throughout the morning but nothing that wasn’t easily avoidable. The current picked up after a few hours, but by that point I was done anyway.
Mussels were easy favorite of the fish today, although I did catch a couple on lugworms. Sure was a cold morning, though, at least on the sand.
