Got numbers on Cap today targeting bass in shallow water. I got on the water at about 6:30 and made my way across the lake to target fish hanging around rocks. I made a few casts into the shallows with a neko-rigged 4-inch senko on the way there and managed to get a fish to take, but lost it. Been happening a lot lately! The action in the rocks was decent with the neko, but I found that most of the fish I caught were tucked into the patchy vegetation on the banks around points, in the backs of coves, and along straight stretches of shoreline. Just about all casts that produced fish in these areas were made parallel to shore as close to the vegetation as possible, many times within a few inches to a couple of feet from the bank. All fish were caught on a neko-rigged senko. No dice on the crankbait. Final fish count: An even 20 fish in the net with another 5 or 6 lost. Most were clones, but one in the 3lb range and one weighing 4lbs on the dot found their way into the mix as well.
Tight lines
Brad

- 4lbs even

Were you in a tube or kayak?
I was out there yesterday and had a hell of a time launching my kayak. they were working on the docks and had guy wires all over, shore was mucky mud, not fun. I only stayed for 2 hours, got 2 fish and decided to call it as I was dreading how to get out.
Sounds like you had a nice bag. The weather was pretty nice as well.

I’m out there in a tube. I’ve become very familiar with that mud, as I launch my tube between the two docks most days to leave the ramp open for the guys launching yaks. Glad you managed a couple fish while you were out! It was an awesome numbers day and definitely worth the fight with the wind on my way all the way back to the ramp.

It was a solid day of fishing. No giants, but I’ll take numbers any day of the week!
