El Cap (2/7)

I was out of town last weekend on a snowboarding trip, which made it the first weekend in some time that I didn’t fish, so I was stoked to get out at Cap today. I got on the water at about 6:30AM and made a few casts with various crankbaits, but to no avail. Made a long kick/row to an area I’ve been fishing pretty heavily and made casts right up against the bank with a neko rigged Z-Man Fattyz and caught a couple of fish, broke one off (check your line), and missed one all between 7-8AM. After a couple of hours of no bites, I relocated across the lake and targeted bass hanging around rocks. I also ended up switching to a 4-inch neko-rigged Senko in a much different color, and this definitely got more looks. Had around 8 bites between 11:15-12PM, resulting in a pair of both lost and missed fish and 4 fish caught, including one weighing a healthy 3lb 12oz, and one weighing an UNHEALTHY 6lb 4oz. While the big fish was an easy 24in (roughly the length of my 8lb 4oz PB caught a few weeks ago), it was all skin and bones. Still, not complaining! Final fish count: 6 fish caught with a lot of missed opportunities. Also, great to meet @CorsoEnthusiast this morning!

It sure was. The hot color for me was whatever the color of the worm in the picture below is. I couldn’t find the name of it, but it looks like green pumpkin on one side. Let me know if you find out the name!
