With Summer like weather for most of the month the Bay has been fishing more like March then January. Water temps are 3-4 degrees above where they would normally be and the fishing has been excellent on days with good tide movement. Had a fishing for Bonefish last week with close to 40 Bonefish over a 2 day span, all on soft plastics and ultralight gear! Zman Salty Shrimpz in New Penny was the hot ticket. Also caught half dozen Halibut up to 21", a bunch of Spotted Bay Bass, and a bonus Sargo! Super fun fishing going on in San Diego Bay right now.

I had a good day on Monday a little closer to the Gaylord, but it was mostly all spotties. Awesome job on the Hali and bonefish, that sargo looked like a tank too!

This brings up a question I’ve had. Unfortunately I can’t pick good or bad tide times, Saturday mornings is when I can fish. Does anyone have preferred areas/techniques for low swing days? Thanks.

When the tide swings are small I look for hard structure (docks and rocks) or areas where the contours of the bay will speed up the current like channel edges and choke points. Also fish a little lighter lures and work them slower then normal. Or you can go the opposite direction and burn a crankbait looking for a reaction bite.

Bonefish don’t to seem to be as effected by the slower tides as Spotted Bay Bass are
