Does this mean we're not gonna have an El Nino this year, and does it mean for fishing the ocean this summer

Every time I get sad about this weather I look at my last summer's electric bills and I start feeling much better all of a sudden

A lot of people are counting on the El Nino again to bring all those fish up deep south in Mexican waters but to me it sure seemed like last year was an El Nino instead seeing how close and in large numbers those Dorado were. BUT for anybody that works outside for their occupation must be pretty damn happy to not be sweating bullets and burnt out already including me!

For the last few years, high temperature records are being set at 2X the rate of low temperature records, that is expected to continue. Doubtful I will be around in 50 years though.

I am just happy to see sunshine again as I type this. Not sure what to expect down the road as tomorrow it could be cool and cloudy again
like we experienced in the month of May. No matter what the weather brings us each day from this point on, I hope the fishing for everyone improves with lots of tight lines and many great fishing reports shared here on SDFish.

I think any day good or bad is fine by me!

At least being outside away from all the damn noise and not staring at some sort of screen is the best, plus you can reflect on what you did or didn't do right.

This past winter was a La Nina year, suppose to be dryer than normal..funny..record snow and rains! I'll believe future forecasts....never!

In western Peru, La Nina and El Nino dominate the weather when it happens. The effect here is weaker. We had a classic cold, dry La Nina winter in 2021/2022 and late 2022. Then the jet stream moved south and we got hammered with rain while Seattle had a drier winter and spring. Weather is best understood as probabilistic phenomena. More like playing poker than playing chess. So don't completely trust weather forecasts but don't completely discount them either. The better weather forecasts give a probability of occurrence.
