No takers today
Saw quite a few carp - mostly jumpers or cruisers - no tail feeding - did see a few feeding on the surface (saw a lot of lips)
Not a warm sunny day early - thought that may have kept them down a bit
I hiked over to the end end so maybe I will try a different area next time

Fished the shore with dough Sunday-no takers. Saw a fellow shore angler get a small catfish and bass throughout the day
Stress is caused by not enough fishing

Interesting - I am pretty new to this - can I ask - is the carp bite not on yet or something?
I was chucking flies - 4 hours - tried a lot of flies and strips - maybe one take - not sure what it might have been
Also, saw many more carp at Henshaw, just like fishing Hodges because it is not the 2 hour round trip to Henshaw
Also, caught cats and bass at Henshaw while chasing carp - got blanked at Hodges
Thanks

Carp aren't really aggressive towards flies like other species. It will take more patience to catch one on a fly.

If you want to catch carp with bait, masa is by far the best to use.. if you want to catch them on the fly? Couldn't tell you, but what I do know is they like to suck whatever is stuck to the buoys. I have actually caught big carp accidentally fishing for bass on a senko which represents the lake snail out of its shell.

Caught a few at Henshaw last Sunday… both were clooping and using a slow sinking fly ( chartreuse Lino Jubilado’s green eggs and ham, other fish on a John Montana hybrid with red tail and plastic eyes).

Very nice - I got blanked again at Hodges today - worked the west bank, north side by the creek, the dock and then east of the dock
Did not see any and did not catch any

Hodges is 10 minutes form home - Henshaw is a 2 hour round trip - I am trying to not to do that commute

I think that is the Joe Montana in the photo -what does the green eggs and ham look like?

Thank you for the offer - I have not used bait in a while, kind of stubborn that way
I fish all the time with a flyrod now - I pay for it some days

I was at Hodges today with my Lynx kayak and didn’t quite get a bass ( hook came out during the fight )Were you the fly fishing guy I met gearing up his kayak when I was leaving? The green eggs and ham is just chartreuse eggstacy yarn with black mono eyes and tan micro chenille tail on a small wide gap hook… sinks slow when casted by cloopers

I went to Hodges on Sunday. Got three carp two catfish. Caught them on nightcrawler and corn. Catfish are very small, maybe 8 inches.

Saturday, I walked that bank from the dock up to the creek mouth on the north side
Did not see any - hard to flyfish carp with no visual cues
Glad you got some, though

They were pretty close to the shore over there. There was a Mexican fella about 30 yards to my left, he caught about six that I noticed.. I don't know what he was using for bait.
