Dec.15-Return to River…oh yeah!

Back for another quick river session as I decided to try something different after catching nothing but dinks over at Murray. I mean I have worked hard and only been ending up with small bass. Anyway....after tons of casts into the green strained water of the SD River and time flying by, I finally got bit and ended up with a bass that stuck my underspin. The funny thing of course was it was a tiny bass that at the most went 1.5 lbs. I laughed thinking I could have just fished Murray...ha ha A little later I lost a small bass on the jump on the same underspin. I finally decided to slow things down and started flippin the shore line. It seemed like it took forever, but finally got my third bite on a small brown Brushhog and landed a healthier bass than the dink I caught earlier. Flipped a lot of shoreline and was going to wrap it up soon and threw just some sunken branches and something tapped my craw bait. Set the hook hard and the fight was on. I finally somehow managed to pull a 6lb bass out of the underwater obstacle course. Totally jazzed, of course I fished for just a little bit more ...and then decided to call it a morning.

The stained green water of the river is tough fishing, but I am thankful for any fish I catch.
I was pretty lucky and it is always a nice surprise when you land a healthy bass. :-)

I knew it was just a matter of time before you got another 6 pounder. Excellent angling my friend!

I was surprised the bass I caught were not even greener because of the water down there. Hopefully the rain we are expecting around Christmas will wash and flush out parts of the river. I wear green shorts a lot so that stains from the water and bass blend in better don't make me look like a homeless guy who lives down at the river ha ha
