Bucktails In Surf ?

I have seen lots of YouTube videos of guys using white buck tails in the surf but most of them are out in Texas or Florida. Has anyone used them for SoCal surf fishing ?
Besides the normal Lucky Crafts and Kastmasters are there any other lures worth trying for SoCal ?

I personally do not know, but here is a pretty thorough site/guide that talks about various setups that might be helpful in answering your question:

I haven't tried one in the surf nor have I seen any being used on open beaches. That being said, you might give it a shot if you're fishing from or near a jetty or in the bay/lagoons. Good luck & report if you do & hook up !

We used to get quite a few Halibut and big Perch on large white Roostertail Spinners. You just have to be sure to wash them off with freshwater and store them in a dry place or they lose their luster. They cast a long ways and, with the feathered treble hook in the back, catch most everything that swipes at them.
