Lake Jennings Bluegill

Saturday was full of raging rainstorms. Finally got a chance to go fishing Sunday. I wanted to try bluegill fishing after some trout fishing because I often run out of trout to catch. Right after Saturday's storm, catfish would be biting better. The panfish and bass were pretty lockjaw even on live nightcrawlers, red worms, and live silversides - I could see 'em but zero interest. I watched them snub me. But the bass were sure cruising around everywhere. Big ones. Guys throwing big swimbaits were shut out too. One kid fishing powerbait for trout caught two nice cats.

Anywho ....

Earlier in the mid-morning bite time, I found an empty patch of muddy bank that looked productive with fish eating insects, and merrily fished my favorite little nymph on fluorocarbon for about 90 minutes, managing to hook and lose (barbless hook) a half-dozen before the stringer was maxed with 1.5 to 3.3 pound rainbows. Fun stuff.
