We caught 3s, 4s, 5s, 6s, 7s, 8s, and a 9er in there. Huddlestons got the big boys, a scrounger head with a Basstrix swimbait got bit quite a bit. During the morning, schools of fish were boiling all over the quarry and they hit topwater well. The jig bite also was amazing. Now i know why they call this place, "The Jewel of California."
The highlight of my buddy's day was getting an 8 and a 7 pounder on one cast, using a double underspin rig inside the quarry.

Can't wait to see what this lake's future holds!!
^^^^THAT REPORT WAS FOR DIAMOND VALLEY LAKE IN 2013
The REAL Real Current Short Report
It sucks. Take your money and boat elsewhere. This lake is a shadow of its former self. It's a shame how all of our lakes go into this boom, and then steadily bust cycle, never recovering to it's full glory ever.
The Longer Current Report
We were in line 30 minutes before opening. Years ago, if you were at DVL 30 minutes before opening, you'd be parked on Domenigoni Parkway being the 50th boat in line. Today, we were the 2nd boat waiting. Always a good sign.
Another great sign? We asked the guy that did our boat 'inspection,' how the bite was? And I say 'inspection,' because he leaned on the Mercury and shot the shit with us for 5 minutes, asking where we had been since he hadn't seen us in so long.
"The bite?! Honestly, it's been horrible. Did you see the tournament weights last weekend? TWELVE pounds." That's like asking the maître d how the food is and they reply that it's low grade dog food and that they've had better food at the ballgame.
After paying the Parking Fee, Launch Fee, Fishing Fee, Boat Tag Fee, Mojave Green Preservation Fee, Domenigoni Lake Renaming Study Fee, Asphalt Use Fee, Wildflower Viewing Off Season Fee, AND Shipping and Handling (not included), we launched around 6:45 AM.
We were off the water by 11:45, another "DVL Nooner or Sooner" as we like to call it nowadays. 2 bites between the both of us. A 1.5 pound rat

and a 5.2 pound unicorn

The stripers that made their presence known a decade ago can now be targeted. The shad have pretty much disappeared. And so it goes.
We'll join the ever growing list of anglers who don't even have DVL on their radar anymore. The Jewel of California has become far from that, and nobody seems to bat an eye. But I'm sure all we need to do is catch and keep all the 2 pounders there to get this place back to its former glory, right?
