Mission Beach 11/2

The tide conditions weren’t ideal but I wanted to take advantage of the earlier sunrise this morning at Mission Beach. The current was manageable, although I’m not sure the same can be said for the grass everywhere. It came in spurts and could generally be seen in the water, but man, when it grabbed the line it was trouble. Such is life when trying to fish high tides.
I was able to catch three small perch. The first one was immediately after my first catch on a combo of shrimp and gulp sandworm. The next two were spread out over a couple hours. Slow morning but no skunk

At least you got out & gave it a go . . . those bigger hi tides can be a challenge. Thanks for the report

The nice thing about having the ability to get out so often lately is that I’m starting to feel less urge to get out there regardless of condition. As you were saying in the King Tides thread, anything over 5ft and definitely over 5.5 - 6ft is really tough, at least at MB/PB. The tide was coming up and over the slope of the sand!
Safe to say that I think I’ll be sitting out the king tide this week, haha. I’ll either just sit and watch, head to the bay side, or maybe just go to Tuna Harbor dockside market and buy some fish that someone else caught

You could always fish in the afternoon when the tide is lower

Yes, I think that’s what I’ve settled on doing. Not sure why this didn’t occur to me, haha. Day off, breakfast, and then hitting the beach for some later morning fishing. If it’s still chaotic for whatever reason, I’ll skip across to the bay side. Plus, I like walking the beach at the extremely low tides, I always find some cool things in the sand that makes the trip worth it, even if the fishing ends up being slow.

Those minus lows a good time to walk the beach and identify holes to come back to fish an incoming tide. Except for tomorrow, surf/swell forecasts look a little rugged this week. Had my calendar marked to fish the late afternoon to sunset today or tomorrow but got scuttled by family obligations.
