On the sand this morning at 6:20, about 1/4 mi south of the pier. Incoming tide was already about 3', little to moderate grass but strong surge from southerly swell. Cast 45 to the left and start slow walk to north & if not bit in 3-4 min pull in 45 to right. Check bait and repeat. That's the way it went for a good hour, only a few nibbles save one pull, a plate size round ray. Alternating baits, frozen clam & mussel meat. About 7:30 switched to dried lug worms & got a few more pickers, managed 2 dinks. Tide was now really filling in with the junk on the beach getting into the mix. Still alternating baits and just getting pickers, no significant bites. Got hung up on a large kelp/grass ball and a break off as tide was getting close to 6' around 8 am. Switched to a backup rod and around 8:30, a 2nd breakoff on another floater. That was it for the session.

Yuck. Thanks for the report, sorry that the tough conditions from the weekend are still lingering.

Sound tough.. The salad can be a royal pain.. We put up with it when the bite is good, hate it when it’s not.. Nice go…

Always struggles in the kelp but keep hacking away at it. There's been good fishing there when the swell and current are less and the grass settles in. Thanks for the report!

At least you got out and found some action.

The only good thing about weeds is finding out how hard you can pull without breaking your line.

Ha! I like your positive outlook. Based on recent weeks down here, I should be good if I catch a baby whale

I found out real quick when spool started dragging and wasn't making any headway reeling in, broke off my 13# test; lost about 20 yards of line. 2nd one broke my 6# leader at the swivel knot.
