New boats for Barrett?

Post by falafeluver »

Recent mentions of new boats for Barrett, is it really going to happen in 2026 or just rumors aka hear-says?

Let’s say it’s true, are they going to be in the same 14’ length or larger than 14’? There used to be a longer boat that I want to say was at least 16’ and that was great in that it wasn’t so cramped as there’s been a few times where we’ve had 4 people total lol.

I’m guessing the used boats will either go to other lakes or scrapped or sold off?

Any word on if the new boats will also be fitted with new or newer motors?

Will there be a fleet of the new boats say at least 15?

Anyone know what the new boat’s maker will be?

I hope that the new boats are at least the types whereby we can buy a Bimini top for them, sure would make a difference on those days where it comes in handy.

Refer to the 2026 Barrett/poll ideas post. Again, when I met with the City I was told they were purchasing new 16' boats for Barrett. They will use the existing motors, most of which are a few years old or newer. As the motors seem to expire they are being replaced, slowly.

Yes I was just wondering if there might have been any update from that post and to bring it out on a separate thread as it was getting muddled with the other topics.

I think I speak for many of us and will say it here, THANK YOU very much for all the time and efforts that you’ve given to make our voices heard!

No worries.....I will be speaking to the City after the close of Barrett for any updates. Anyone can always call the City Lakes dept for updates to any of the reservoirs. Speaking of which there is a very important meeting concerning the future of El Cap on October 1st. You can get the details on the Friends of SD Lakes Facebook page. I will not attend as I am on an extended road trip thru Utah, Colorado and Arizona.......Stunning scenery up here.
