Tough couple of days but...

I fished Saturday at El Capitan in my new float tube. It's pretty amazing on the water. Fastest I've ever seen because of it's design. I was worried that it might get really hot being black, but honestly, I really didn't notice any difference over my other tube on the water. I was so anxious to get it out (after a week off) that I forgot my phone so no pics. I ended up with only 3 bass with the best just over 3 lbs. Pretty slow fishing wise.

Headed to Otay today. Like El Cap it was pretty sluggish there too. I got 3 topwater early even though they weren't actively busting - where I was at least. Got 2 more on a jig, but all of them were pretty small with the best just under 3 pounds.

Still, I am loving the new ride, and it was good to get back on the water, I was beginning to go through withdrawals. Now if someone could just design air conditioned waders I'd really appreciate it!

When you told me you’re getting a new tube the other week I never knew how exciting that must be. Wow…. It looks great Dan!!!!
I see a lot of fish being caught on that new vessel for you. It has just been too darn hot lately, but hope to see you out at the lake one of these days soon.
Tight lines :-)

In the older tubes where you sat in the water lower…Some of the best summertime waders I had were cut off right below the knees. So it looked like you were waded up but actually trunking it…I think the no contact rule is a joke. I love trunking it when able.

Very hot. But I plan on some mornings at Murray this week. Maybe pick up some busters.

I remember the days when you could fish in swim trunks. Of course there were water skiers at El Cap too so.... I agree that the no contact rule is a bit silly. With this tube the only thing in the water is about up to mid calf. I may half to consider wading pants in the future.

Just a quick thought. I wear a pair of SPF 50 Flyfishing Pants. They are coated with Teflon so they don’t stain, dry quickly, and best of all are cooling and I guess they look enough like Waders that I’ve never been checked.
