8/27 On my tube again.
Was in the water in the dark and the they were on the chew. Either a tick or flat out try to pull the rod out of your hands. Not much topwater for me except I was throwing a weightless worm and skimming the grass and sticks. Some really fun blow ups. Note you still need to let the rod load up before you set the hook. Used the usual DS,TR,SS and roadrunner with a curly tail grub. I kept switching up and producing bites. As Dave mentioned in his post there were looked like shad in the shallows along with lots of baby bluegills and baby bass. Around 10 I started noticing, I call them rollers not busters. They would get close, so I would throw on them, you needed to be on the swirl or nothing. About 10:30 the bite had slowed down for me, so I dragged the roadrunner around in the groups of rollers. Haven't done that in a long while and it produced, even got one just under 4. I ended the day with more then last trip. Biggest 4 3/4. I ran into a guy named Rick at launch. He does fishing Videos. Nice guy. I recognized him as I watch his videos. Give it look on YouTube (reelingwithrick) Help him out and subscribe.
