Pacific Beach 8/21

Really good perch bite yesterday for about an hour, 7 - 8 am on the incoming tide. All on small sand crabs that had roe on a #6. Could not find any softies. Got 10 in all, more than half were 10-11" plus. Was alternating baits with another rod setup with a larger #2 hook using lugworms and ghost shrimp looking to get a large corbina or croaker. Problem was the perch were immediately ripping those baits off the hook so little opportunity for the larger species other than one small sngf managed to get on. None the less, the non stop perch action made it a fun session.

Good job, Perch Killer, it's funny because parking and general surface street traffic are why I wouldn't try PB! (I know it's closer for you too). I bet I am overestimating morning crowds.

I think everyone is scared of parking/traffic in PB, haha. Every now and then I get the thought of trying it, but then Mission Beach is such a straight shot and its right next door (to PB), so it works. Maybe one of these days I'll walk there from MB, ha!

I got there at 6:20 and there were a good half dozen parking spots open in the small public lot at PB Drive. I'll usually check this lot first if I'm planning to fish south of the pier. The two side streets just north of the pier you can usually find open spots if you get there before the surfers do ! Once in awhile you can get lucky between 7-8 am when folks leave from their street parking spot to go to work.

Thanks, there really are a lot of variables in surf fishing locally.

Nope..Trying to get some dermatology problems resolved with my leg, and trying to set up a security system at the house… I almost went early in the week, but got lazy, and chickened out….
Catch some for me… Maybe this week I’ll get out…
