Finally got back out on the water again ( I really hate you guys that get to fish so often!
). Lake was packed! Had to have been at least one club tournament if not two going on.
Had really no idea what to expect except for the recent reports from here. Started out throwing a frog and missed a couple of blow ups pretty quickly so I was expecting a good day. Ended up only landing three. One on an underspin, one on a crankbait, and one on a frog. Today was the most fun I have ever had only getting theee fish. If my count was correct I went 1 for 27 one the frog. They were blowing up on it all day long but were either missing it completely or just getting the tail and not the hooks. I LOVE frog fishing so I pretty much locked the frog rod in my hand for most of the day. I was having too much fun to really try anything else for more than a handful of casts.
Some of the blow ups were small fish but the majority were solid fish. Shortly after catching my only frog fish (just over 2lbs) I lost a 3 1/2-4lbr at boat side. Almost all of the bites came outside the solid grass lines, in the more sparse grass. I could almost call my shot on when I would get bit.
Even with only three fish, it was still a great day back out on the water! Also, for the third time in the last year I found a Megabass bait that someone lost. I have found two crankbaits and a top water bait. That’s about $70 -$80 dollars in baits
