Fletcher Cove 7/19

My son wanted to get in on the fishing action and asked to try some north county beaches. We attempted South Carlsbad State beach and Tamarack beach but shorelines were either too small or far too crowded to enjoy it.

Settled on Fletcher Cove (my personal favorite beach for relaxing), battled a bit of grass as the tide came in, but caught four perch between the two of us.

Not a bad day of fishing!

I was at south Carlsbad yesterday in the morning. Only small areas of sand among the rocks, but the perch were biting.

It's a really nice beach and has a "locals only" vibe to it. Its nestled in between two very touristy areas both north and south of it, typically fairly easy to park at, and plenty of beach space for everyone to spread out. I've fished there a couple time and have had success. Worst cast, lots of great food options within walking distance of where you park! Solana Beach is my happy place, its just a shame I can't quite afford to live there

Fletcher cove is also one of my family's go-to beaches. I don't fish there often with them, but I've noticed that between the beach and the south end of swami's, there is a lot of rocky structure that might be productive fish at low tide. You can see it on satellite images.
