It's too bad the other website had to close. We do need a fishing website with no politics here in SoCal.

Mini jigs seem to work best overall for me. Get a light pole with 2-3lb test line and cast different colored mini jigs, 1/16 or 1/32 oz.

Some use spinners and powerbait as well. Sometimes I use the powerbait setup as shown on the picture:

Adjust the leader length depending on the lake depth and conditions, normally between 1 and 4 feet.
Be sure that you put enough bait on the hook so that it floats and not just falls to the bottom.

For mini-jig, is 6lb mono line okay? And any tips on casting it further? Or it's not meant to be casted far?

6lb line is pretty heavy and you want to cast out as far as possible.
I use 2lb braid, it’s been working well for me.

Any tips on boating for trout? Should I troll? Or just try to find schools swimming around? I haven't caught a solid trout in like 3 years at poway lol.

I agree 6# mono is way heavy for such light jigs. Most use 2lb mono or braid. They're not going to cast super far regardless but i can't imagine them going very far with 6#

Does the C-Rig setup apply if you're fishing from one of the boats?
