6/23- SD River(Almost "Deja vu")

Returned to the SD River this morning after landing 2 bass on 3 bites 3 days ago. It was almost "Deja vu" only this time I got 4 bites and landed 3 bass. Started by catching a tiny bass like last time, then landed one slightly bigger and then one slightly bigger than the last one. None were what anyone would call big, but at least I managed to get a 3rd bass this time.. ha ha Like I mentioned in my last post....I really work hard trying to get bass to hit my baits and even though they were all small, I still had fun getting out and fishing rather than staying home.
Actually wasn't going to post this but heck maybe it will inspire others to post something as any fishing post is better than no post at all.
Tight lines amigos! :-)

Yeah, any type of fishing definitely tops staying at home.

I think you were down there gill netting those poor little bass...and then sticking that monster jerkbait on his little face! I've retired my dropshot!

Maybe getting out there is why you always catch fish as opposed to occasional anglers like myself. Always like your entertaining reports.

It looks like you did quite well on your occasional trip to Minnesota and your recent Barrett trip and know you will have great trip the next lake you hit. Going often does not guarantee you will catch more.
Sometimes I just am foolish and like a good challenge as after a pretty rewarding trip to Miramar, instead of hitting it again, I have gone to the SD River back to back times where it is not so rewarding. If you read any of my old posts about the river you will see that often you do not get many bites. Then also if a nice bass comes off, you think about it the whole time you are there and when you get home which is not fun. But the challenge is even though it is at times very tough fishing, every once in a while catch a nice bass which is rewarding.

(Hey Big C...the reason you can't get me to join
you at Barrett and I do appreciate the offers is because if I went there I would not fish anywhere else and suffer immensely during the months the lake is closed.) :-)

The truth: Vinny doesn't fish Barrett because he knows he would skunk...and couldn't face the public ever again!

Wow, you’re drinking again and even before 8:30 AM. So sad.

1 fish, no matter what size, is infinitely better than no fish at all!

You mentioned that the amount of Bass you catch doesn’t correlate with the number of times you fish. My Dad told me the best thing about fishing is practice practice practice. How many perfect casts result in catching a Bass. Not every one, but a lot. I watch my buddies not casting to areas I recognize as being prime spots. Why didn’t you put one in there? “ Where”?… time on the water is important. Fishing in prime spots that others miss is about the best way to get hooked up on highly pressured water. Recognizing that seems to come with Fishing a lot. Also I imagine your reflexes are faster due to your time on the water, swinging on the “ Tick” bites. I watch my friends missing bites all day. No reaction whatsoever unless I yell SWING!
