5/30- Murray Laugher

Been about a week and a half since my last trip to Murray which was fun and topped off with a 5.50 lb bass. Always pretty excited to be back on the water at Murray, but something seemed strange. Scouting around there was literally no busters anywhere. I think I only saw one but the lake surface was like an oil painting until the morning winds came up. Later, I was heading over to a spot to toss some other baits and the water swirled pretty far ahead of the boat. I grabbed my rod with a Sammy and got lucky because as soon as it landed I caught my only topwater fish. It was not a big one, but ended up the biggest of the morning. Never did see another bass jump. Other than that, all my bass I caught were small on plastic worms. It was funny at one point where me and another guy in his boat were laughing every time we landed a bass as they were all tiny. Don't get me wrong as itis always fun to land bass, but this morning to sum it up was pretty much a laugher or what I would describe as a dink-fest.

Just a few pics(I already hear McFish laughing)

An oil painting...I'm thinking more like water colors! Good thing you didn't come out to the D.K. yesterday, with temps in the high 90s and 30mph Santa Ana's blowing...you would of been screaming like a little girl! Plus, you wouldn't want to be catching bigger fish....lol lol lol lol ! Maybe next week you can come up...I'll warn everybody you're coming!

I wonder if I could listen to the whole song
without talking? I told my wife and she burst
out in laughter and said “No way!” :-)

Murray is hard to figure out at times.
You can go at times and catch a few nice
healthy bass in the mix, or just catch clones
all day. Friday was just a dink and micro bass day, but far better than a really tough day there
where nothing much at all is biting. I stop by the lake often and talk to guys in tubes, kayaks, old boats to top of the line very expensive bass boats and see how the fishing was. There are times when even top bass anglers just have a very tough day and I appreciate their honesty. Then there are days when most guys had a great day. Many years ago, catching lots of bass was the norm, but these days you never know what to expect. Anyway...hope you catch a bunch at Otay Robert. Probably the better choice from the chatter of most on the site and others I talk to at the tackle shops.
