Protecting hands.....hook covers

So...embedded a treble hook in a finger while fishing off the kayak this weekend. Trying to prevent this in the future. I bought some PVC meshed back lure wraps off Amazon but the hooks pierce the material instantly. Do you guys use lure wraps to protect yourself? If so which ones are you using or recommend?

I bought some cheap clear lure wraps off of Temu a couple of months ago and they work greats. All of my rods with treble hook baits get one.

I have some from Bass Pro I have been using for many years. I had to glue on new Velcro strips after a few years. Have not had any problems with hooks penetrating thru the material though. The mediums are big enough for most lures.

I quit using trebles altogether. Slippery hands, slick line, wiggly fish all conspire to hook you. I use jigs, and plastics. So versatile now. Way safer, in fact most of the time I use barbless. Easier on the fish and you. Fish however you like, at $400-$600 per extraction at an Emergicenter, I’m to cheap to fish any other way.

So, bummer getting self hooked!
If possible, bite the stick & turn the hook around & out to cut the barb.
I've done this more than once.

WORKPRO Mini Bolt Cutter 8-inch,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0895SZKRP?re ... b_ap_share

I had to use these twice! But I wasn’t the one hooked. These are always with me in the tackle box for both fresh and salt.

Just got the ER bill from my eye incident back in May. $1,332.00. Not so happy about that. For less than 5 min. work by the Dr.
