5/19-Return to Murray

It seems like forever since I fished Murray so I decided to head over and see what's happening.
Used reaction baits for a few active bass up near the surface, I stuck a little too long using reaction baits as overall there was not much surface action this morning and the sun was up early. I then just decided to toss some plastics and mixed it up between worms and craw baits. I ended up landing 13 bass, most were clones and not real big, but
did land a nice 5.50lb bass on a craw bait which helped make the trip to Murray a lot more fun.
a few pics
Lots of these...
@McFish gave me exact GPS coordinates saying there was a 3.5lb bass next to a rock and I
caught the bass, but need to nicely tell him it was not 3.5 lbs....
Thank you Googan craw...

I caught a couple dinks right before I caught
her so she looked a lot bigger when she jumped
but was very happy after landed her.

It’s kind of a hit or miss with craw baits, but I’ve caught many healthier bass over those years on them and creature baits. It seems they work best when you toss them over rocky areas or areas with structure. At Murray, I was working it off a point near one of the submerged cement structures that was dumped in the lake decades ago.

I wondered why you were so free to give up your GPS coordinates to me knowing there was just a dink there.
I had to just go by instinct to one of the points to have better luck.
Talked to the only other local on the lake about you......it seems no one remembers that you used to fish Murray.

After seeing all your photos the last 6 months, it was obvious that I needed to let all those baby bass have some time to grow....

Vinny, did you dump those concrete structures in the lake at night?

Where else could he get rid of his old driveway. I'm sure it was accidental that he created perfect fish habitats...and has all the way points on his fishfinder....
P.S. Nice fish Vinny!

I found a boat in deep water there, pretty sure it was Vinny someone was on his spot.

Thank goodness I don’t use bait or your
description of me would’ve been a lot
different.

Those concrete piles and structures are pretty good size. Some of them are 8 foot concrete precast sewage pipe.
Nice work out there!

Growing up in San Diego, I remember when the water was a lot clearer and you could see all the concrete structure they dumped in the lake. Old aqueduct pipes and cement pieces....especially off of Cowles Point. I took pictures years ago and then again in 1978 when the water was really low. Saw a bunch of the piles and big pipes out there. Of course over the years I just found things using fish/depth finders. A few years(not that long ago) back I watched them sink a number of dead trees with cement as the anchor in different areas mostly around the points which is probably better structure for Crappie.
Anyway...there were a few spots that used to be real good, but over the last so many years, they are not as productive as years ago. Heck I remember going to fish a spot when you leave Padre bay and just around the corner in San Carlos arm about 7 or 8 straight times without even a tap, yet years ago, you almost always hit a bass there. Oh well, that's
all part of fishing Murray.
