Got up there at 6:30, the guy came out to ck my boat, he said to tilt the motor dn, when I did about 2 tablespoons of water came out. He wouldn’t let me launch my boat, the puddle didn’t even drip after it was dn. It was about the size of a silver $. Long trip for nothing. I will leave it trimmed dn until mon am and try it again. That’s Morena! They are terrible when it comes to inspections. I’ve been turned away too many times. Almost went to blows with a “kid” up there over it. No reasonable inspections. I talked with the manager years ago about investing in a warm water washdown like cuyamaca and charging for a wash when someone fails an inspection. He said he would look into and it made sense. Nothing happened. People drive very far to get turned away. But they do have an awesome fleet of new super duties with big OFFROAD bumpers and warn winches. Seems the money could have been better used but that’s government spending for you.

What are you fishing for Trout?. Is it a good Bass lake?. Do not hear much about that lake. Been there one time, carp fishing many years ago.

It's a decent bass and crappie lake. It's just a crapshoot if they will let you launch. I have been turned away twice, once for the boat being wet while it was drizzling lol. The other time was because their was leaves and dust on my boat. SMH can't make this stuff up

It’s a tight lipped fishery. One day can be just as good as it was in its hay day and the next day, you can’t buy a bite. Inspection is brutal. I got turned away once in a drizzle too. Got turned away for one eucalyptus leaf that was in the corner of my floor. Turned away at least 5 times since the quagga inspections began. The lake has definitely recovered since its last low water event. That lake can eat swimbaits like no tomorrow. If you like carp fishing, you can’t beat Morena.

Even if you have the muscle stamp they can turn you away. That's a long way to go and not be able to fish.

I went the last two weeks with my kayak. Last week was killer and got over 20 with one 3.5 and one 5.5 on the scale. This weekend was toughhhhh. Camped out saturday night and woke to frost on my tent bag and chairs. Got 2 smalls and casted fies at carp and missed the only bite I got. I think the cold shut them down but maybe it got good in the afternoon.
