4/8-Back to SD River

The weather is heating up and before it gets too hot later in the week, I headed to the SD River this morning. No need to rush, as it seems most of the bass I caught at the river ain't until later morning. I recently scanned over time stamps on numerous photos taken here and at Murray of healthier bass over the last 3-4 years and almost 90% of the time it was late morning or very early afternoon. A couple guys I know at the river get there very early and I kidded them that I do not need to show up till 10:30 or 11 because for some reason I have a tough time in the morning and they laughed. Anyway, I fished numerous types of reaction baits and plastic worms for over 3 hours and finally at around 11:20am(told you I had my first bite and missed it on the hook set deep in the stick-ups. Then at 11:32am, I picked up a very small bass flippin"a Texas rigged worm. Later started flippin' a Texas rigged craw and tossed it in an opening in the tulles and picked up another
small bass at around 12:15pm. It was pretty hot now and was working my final stretch when something picked up my Tokyo rig and headed towards me. I set the hook and landed a long 3.75lb bass. For a few seconds I thought I had extended my
little streak of catching a bass 4lbs or more to 5 straight fishing trips, but came up a little short.
Still very happy(and lucky) to catch it which made the drive home a lot more fun(or was in the cranked up A/C?).
This one would break McFish's line probably...ha ha

I have noticed that also on some of them. They
have lived through the many changes in the
water that is not always clean...or ever clean.
They probably have earned that color....ha ha.

I bought a bunch of Bass Pro Shop Crack Craws many years ago. I have an assortment of colors and yes that one is kind of a plum color with blue flakes. The craws used to be a great bait, but sadly they are no long available. Like so many other baits, the ones I have been sitting idle in my garage for at least 15 years..probably longer. I decided to take a half a dozen of them in different colors with me today and glad I tossed that one via a Tokyo rig.

Quantity over Quality...I'm practicing for the Bass tour that uses the number of fish caught to determine the champion! Yeah, that's what I'm doing! Size doesn't matter...I think I heard that somewhere??? That's why I always release my large fish on the jump..just thinking of their welfare!

I know I could never beat you in quantity of bass caught and can't thank you enough for releasing the bigger bass on the jump.
You really were a champ at doing that the last time you were there at Murray. Don't think it ever goes un-noticed.
You rock
@Mcfish ! Tight lines

Gee… that explains everything. I’ve never even thought of that.
