Never heard of such a thing, but upon research, finally found that warning. Thanks, saved me 2 hours of wasted driving, small miracle I stopped over here before heading over there:

Yep, our club tourney for Saturday got moved to El Cap. And then in 2 weeks, we have another tourney at El Cap.
Is it me, or are we seeing more and more algae blooms that are so bad they require closures of lakes?

I wonder if it is a nutrient abundance thing from the ash from the fires? Just a thought. Thanks for letting us know about the tourney move as well. How big is that tourney? I know there is another there that day as well.

Our club one this Saturday that was scheduled for Otay also included 2 other clubs as well. I wonder how they're going to make moves. In any case our club only has about 15 boats for Saturday. I dunno if the other clubs rescheduled.
The one on March 1st is the Angler's Customer Appreciation. The previous one at San V had well over 100 boats.

I'm wondering what those other clubs are doing as far as rescheduling or cancelling.

Algae blooms are usually from excess phosphates and nitrates, typically from fertilizer runoff from lawns or farms. Ash will mostly carry potassium and calcium although it can have some phosphorous. Otay has had algae blooms before the recent fires.

What about San V. It's bigger? Since they have scheduled El Cap already. With the water down at El Cap way to many boats. Those pour kayakers. I might drive out just to see the SS.

I’ve seen Hodges when it was pure green paint. Stuff stick to your line muck up your guides. Terrible. No one ever closed the lake. We all lived through it

When I was a child, we walked to school 5 miles every day in snow and green algae. No one complained. Actually, we did but no one listened.
