Stocking, Dragons and Full Moons

It's stocking week at the pond. Which means I'll have the following interaction about 15 times a day this week:

"Did they stock yet?!"

"No."

"Damn! Do you know when they're gonna stock?"

"No."

A few moments later, the same $hit happens, with someone asking:

"Did they stock yet?!"

I need to start wearing my "NO THEY DIDN'T STOCK" shirt this week so the Go Pro'ers stop asking.

FOR SALE SOON

The vast majority of those anglers asking have 4 rods in tow and they don't even make a cast, and just end up leaving as quickly as they got there. There seems to be a generation of anglers who need instant gratification with the least amount of effort put in. To each their own, I guess.

The bass bite at the pond is decent, relatively speaking of course, as these fish start moving into their pre spawn locations and patterns. If you get a bite per session, you're doing pretty good. You're doing better if you actually land the fish. I rifle through 2 or 3 baits during my hour long stay, and all the fish have been healthy chunks.

We rolled the dice 2 weeks ago and ended up at Bernasconi Lake, and we may have well have slept in. We spent the entire day staring at the Active Target like idiots while fishing all the sunken wrecks marking fish, but of the lock jaw variety.

By noon, we called it having only a pair of 14 inch fish to show for it that were dumb enough to eat the 3" Jackal Revoltage Drift Fry. At least it was pretty out there.

Mornin' Ride

Last week, we took a stroll back out to The Dragon in Paso Robles and luanched under its typical foggy conditions after arriving in line at 2 in the morning and taking a quick 4 hour nap until the gate opened.

We had our fill of pound and a half spotted bass all day, and what we lacked in size, we made up in numbers.

The elusive 2 pounders evaded our baits, but there were a few that may have been close.

The surprise catch of the day was a 2.2# crappie that decided to eat a Texas rigged plastic. I thought I was reeling in a wet sock for a second there.

2 weekends, 2 lakes, 650 miles traveled. I think El 'Cap may be on the radar for this weekend as we need to pre-fish and hopefully find a nice pattern for our tournament in the next few weeks.

Till next time!
