I was going to go to Murray for a few hours this morning to see if I could catch enough dinks to weigh them and see if the total weight could reach at least a pound and a half, but changed my mind. Instead I spent the morning at the SD river. Crank baits, spinnerbaits and under spins gave me some casting practice and then went to flippin’ worms, brush hogs and crawbaits. After a few hours of nothing, I finally got a bite flippin' a June bug colored crawbait. I quickly set the hook and geez did that bass fight. Came out of the water a few times and I got him in and was amazed how cold this bass was. Bass was short but the belly was solid and weighed 3.25lbs (probably at least 7-8 Murray dinks..ha ha). I later flipped a Brush Hog about 10’ from some tulles, got bit and had a nice bass until he went ballistic and came unbuttoned about 4 feet from me. "!#$@&%#%*!!!!!"....that was a bummer, as that was the only other bite I got. No fish story, like the bass I lost wasn't 8lbs..but it was at least 4 1/2lbs or so. Still had fun fishing this morning, but like any bass fishermen, wished I landed that second bass.

Yeah, a lot better than the dinks I was catching at Murray so far this year. Heck I think my biggest fish there was about only about 1 3/4 lbs.
