Good day at Otay 12/29

Had a great time at Otay today. Final count was 11 fish total, all of them were over 3lbs, with a couple just shy of 5. I put in at the ramp and caught a few along the tulies as I headed to Otay arm. I caught the majority of them working among the trees at the tip of the arm. Every fish was on a chartreuse and white Z-man Mini Max chatter bait with a white 3" Spunk Shad trailer.
Fun fishing for my last trip of the year.

11 bass... with every bass being over 3lbs each.....good day??? Sounds like it was more of a best day ever!
Even catching 5 bass over 3lbs is fantastic and title should have beens more like "GREAT DAY AT OTAY!"
Wow!

Not the lowest I've seen but considerably down from last summer levels.

To be fair, it still doesn't approach the 50+ fish topwater day I had there last summer, but as far as wintertime fishing goes, at least for me, it does rank right up there! Some of the fish were short, but they were stuffed fat. All future big'uns fer sure.

That is one HECK of a topwater day!!!!!.....Actually, I was pointing out 11 straight bass over 3 lbs. That to me is pretty darn amazing when
you caught a total of 11 bass!
Tight lines buddy

Well a few of them just barely made 3 but unless my scale lied to me, yep all 11 topped 3 lol. Maybe the fishing gods felt I worked hard enough this year for a reward?

It was nice to meet you.. your name is John right? Your dad caught a 3 or four pounder on the first cast didn't he? I hope he had fun on his visit. The big ones are around but I think they are mostly hanging in 15-20 ft. That's where I found most of them. The shallower fish seem to be clones. That's what I discovered last week when I was there. But hey, they are all a blast!

Yep that was me! Yeah we ended up finding another 3 lber in that spot, it was actually pretty deep in that pocket. About 20-25 ft!
He had a blast, he wants to try out San V this weekend even though the bite is pretty damn good at otay right now.
It was nice talking to you and thank you for the report. I'll see you on the water again soon!
